On Saturday 24th April the St James Soccer team played a friendly against the old St James Soccer team. Many of you might not know that St James had a soccer team that played regularly for over a decade in the 80’s and 90’s. On Saturday the oldies reunited including guest appearances from the Reverent Denzil Abrahams, Clive Alfino, Charlie de Cooker, Mark Hector and Captain Robbie Darries. The current St James soccer team was led by Leighton Ronne and Kim Quickfall a very energetic duo. Many of their younger players came off the bench when the oldies got tired. A first aid kit as well as a wheelchair was on hand in case anybody ‘hit the wall’! All the supporters and players alike had a great time and celebrated afterwards with a braai. Thanks must go to Robbie and Mark for organizing the event and we look forward to a rematch at the end of the season. We’ve got some great talent in the St James soccer team so why not come and support them. They will be playing 3 league matches in May on Saturday 1st, 15th and 29th May at 10 am at the Chukker Road fields. So diarise those dates and come and support your team! Its Ayoba!
