Missions

Our vision for missions comes directly out of St James’ vision as a church: We hope to ignite a movement of the gospel that impacts not just individual lives but the entire culture, in not only our neighbourhood or city but throughout Africa, to the ends of the earth. Jesus said, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." We hope to use short-term missions to mobilize and energize new generations of Christians for the task - to be prayers, senders and goers.

GO Mission

The GO training and outreach experience takes place in Hermanus & Mitchell’s Plein each year. It remains a great forum for networking and it is encouraging to see so many churches participate. The GO Training & Outreach Experience is a great forum for gaining mission exposure, identifying talent and connecting people to the most suitable mission opportunities. All church members are encouraged to make use of GO as their first step into the exciting field of missions.

 

Churches for Namibia

Many Churches and two colleges (GWC and BISA) have been involved in mission trips to Namibia. Over the past few years, there has been a focus on the Deaf and Blind communities as well as schools work in the Namibian community. Excellent cooperation and teamwork has been fostered between the full-time mission workers, students and other church members who join the mission trips. This has contributed greatly to the effective outreach to the Ovambo community.

People can get involved in the missions mentioned above. Several mission trips take place throughout the course of the year. We can also assist in helping you identify the mission best suited to you and put you in touch with the leader of the relevant group. (http://missions.dccfamily.co.za)
